Cublast for iPhone is a fast paced arcade game that will keep you grooved to your phone screen for minutes on end. Developed by two Dutch students, the game sports beautiful visuals, intuitive controls and slick game play. If you’d liked games such as Pivvot, you’ll fall in love with Cublast as well. The graphics of Cublast for iPhone is beautiful, minimalistic and feel with a touch of 3-D depth. The colors are nice too. The animations, on the other hand, are slick and smooth. The transactions between levels seem seamless. And to top things off, the soundtrack is tranquil and soothing to listen to. Cublast game is level based. You got to clear the present level to progress to the next one. It starts with a tutorial chapter, followed by four chapters where you get a feel of the game. Since each stage has a time limit, you got to move fast to reach the finishing point. You can earn up to three stars on a level by being fast as well as by collecting all of the “Blastpoints,” which are the pink blocks scattered around. If you run out of time, hit any obstacles, or fall out of bounds, the game ends and you got to start again.
The controls are simple and intuitive. Simply tap on the screen to get the pink ball out of the starting block. Tilt your phone to move it around, and tap again on the screen to make it jump. The ball can cling onto walls and jump off them. But you should keep in mind that you can only jump once after a surface. So make it count. The finishing point of each stage is marked by a pink triangle nestled into a perfect cutout. But you got to touch at least one or two Blastpoints in order to lift the pink triangle. Once you manage to get the pink ball into the space, then the triangle slams into the circle, indicating the level as complete. Cublast does have online leaderboards. But they are implemented through game’s own servers rather than Game Center. The game is found to be stable and responsive as well.
Conclusion
Cublast for iPhone is a fun and challenging game, complete with beautiful graphics, soothing music and intuitive controls. They are easy to learn, but difficult to master. Obtaining all stars within the time limit is possible, but it takes some amount of practice. The game does not have any annoying ads either.
