ProCamera 7 App for iPhone Review

ProCamera 7 for iPhone is a photo, video, and editing app bursting with state-of-the-art technology that helps you shoot like a pro. The app has all the required tools that professional photographers and beginners will find useful. You can get ProCamera 7 app for $3.99 from iTunes App Store.

Features

ProCamera 7 app for iPhone has a familiar enough UI. Anyone who had used the iOS camera interface will comfortable to use ProCamera 7 straightaway. Along the bottom of the screen, you could find a handle to camera roll. Alternatively, camera roll can be accessed by swiping from left to right from the left hand edge of your iPhone screen. Adjacent to the camera roll icon is the double arrow icon, which is the mode selection button.

ProCamera 7 has three modes: video, photo and night. Once you switch to the video mode, the control panel also changes contextually, adding video specific functions and removing functions that aren’t related to the job. The night mode let you choose between 1/8s, 1/4s, 1/2s and 1 second. A handy indicator in the display info bar tells you whether the light coming in is sufficient for a given shutter speed. The motion button is a convenient feature that let you click a photo once the camera is steady. Tap to focus works the same way as in the stock iOS camera app. But ProCamera 7 users have the ability to separate focus and exposure selection tool. Menu is where all the magic happens. You have options to enable grid mode, white-balance lock, rapid fire (takes photos for as long as you are pressing the shutter release), histogram, ISO, aspect ratio, tilt meter, self-timer, and automatic lock for focus and exposure.

However, ProCamera 7 does not score high on filters and editing options. While it has filters and effects to be applied on photos, the UI and methods for applying them might frustrate the users. The app also provides editing controls for the normal settings such as brightness, contrast, saturation etc.

Conclusion

The plus point of ProCamera 7 for iPhone is its thoughtfully designed camera interface. The ability to lock while balance, view histogram or click a photo only when your hand is steady is standout features. However, the final results are not as impressive as in apps such as Camera+. It is also a bit buggy. But certainly it is an improvement over its older version. Check it out if you’re willing to shell out £0.69.
