Pages app for iPhone is the word processing component of their iWork productivity suite of software, and a companion app to Keynote for presentations and Numbers for spreadsheets. Most importantly it helps you create, edit and view documents on the go. Since it works with iCloud, your documents stay up to date across all your iOS devices. Pages app for iPhone is about an 88 MB install. After installation, launching the app prompts you to read through few pages that details the app’s control scheme on the iPhone. The learning curve isn’t anything steep especially if you’ve already used Microsoft Office. It has some basic text editing for changing font styles, inserting images, creating lists, and making page size or layout adjustments as required. The formatting options are available on a bar at the top of the edit screen. Like in MS Word, you can adjust your margins/paragraph indent by dragging the arrows on the ruler at the top of the screen.

In Pages, you got 16 Apple-designed templates and styles to instantly create beautiful letters, reports, flyers, cards, and posters. You can customize your document with the colors, fonts, and textures you like. To add tables, charts, or media into a document, simply tap ‘+’ sign and choose the item you would like to insert. The table is easily editable by tapping on them, while media can be scaled and moved around in the document. You can find options to search, help and document set up by clicking on the tools button. The app also let you browse your document using the page navigator and see a thumbnail preview of each page. And the best part is that the pages save automatically every time you make changes to it.

Pages app for iPhone also let you share your work by exporting it as a Pages ’09, Microsoft Word, or PDF file and sending it via Mail. The app is also AirPrint compatible.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for an easy to use word processor app for your iPhone, Pages app might just fit the bill. Creating and editing documents is a cakewalk. Share and AirPrint compatibility comes handy. However, it might not suit big DropBox users. Also the app supports only US letters and A4 paper sizes, which is a shame. Verdict: For iOS users, Pages app for iPhone is a workable system. However, pushing to a different platform is a bit complicated.
