CNN App for BlackBerry

CNN is easily one of the most respected international news organizations in existence. In fact, it would not be a stretch to say that many people would consider them the most respected. However you slice it though, CNN news stories are followed by millions around the world. Because of the importance of the feeds coming out of CNN headquarters, the CNN app for BlackBerry is definitely a useful application that any CNN fan can certainly get a lot of productivity from using.

User Interaction

Interacting with the CNN for BlackBerry app is easy. It essentially functions as a funnel for information, so all you have to do in order to access that information is scroll through the various headlines and select the one you’d like to read. It’s almost like having an instantly updated newspaper in your BlackBerry. Of all of the different BlackBerry app setups around, this one is perhaps the most impressive because of this fact.

User Interface

Since CNN is a news organization, one would expect their layout to be quite logical. And this does turn out to be the case when you take a look at the graphical user interface for this particular BlackBerry app. The news stories are laid out in a standard list format and when you select one of them for further review you are taken directly to the story where you can read up and down by scrolling and reading. In the end, this is easily the best way to do an interface because of the fact that the news stories are generally cycled through regularly by users, something that CNN capitalizes on by placing the newest stories at the top of the list.

Utility and Productivity

CNN is an international news organization more than it is an American news organization and that means that all of the stories from around the world that are worth reporting on are stories that CNN would have written pieces about. This means incidentally that if you download the CNN app to your BlackBerry, you have all of the news that is worth reading available to you at your fingertips. This allows you to use your BlackBerry and the CNN app to catch up on world and domestic events whenever you have a few extra minutes. The ability to use your time more productively by catching up on news events instead of staring out the window of the bus or taxi will make you a more productive person. Every news story you read on the way home is one more you don’t have to read at home and that in turn gives you more leisure time at home to do something else with.

The CNN app for BlackBerry really does epitomize what the BlackBerry is all about. It is supposed to be a time-saving device and the CNN app is definitely one that can save you an hour or more a day from the point you get home. For that reason, we rate it at 9.0 out of 10.
