Don’t get mislead by the name. iCircuit is an Android app for designing and experimenting with circuits. If electronics is your forte, and you find pleasure in designing electronic circuits for gadgets, perhaps you should try this out. iCircuit Android app comes at a price tag of $4.99 in Google Play Store.

iCircuit: Features

iCircuit app for Android comes across as an advanced simulation engine can handle both analog and digital circuits and features real-time always-on analysis. It is always simulating the circuits created unlike other CAD programs. From a user perspective, you only need to add elements, connect them together, and set their properties. Yes, play with the circuit and components like you would do in a lab. The app will do the rest. It frees you from having to stop and make measurements all the time.

To make circuits, you got to have components. iCircuit provides you with 30 different components that you can use to make circuits. Further, the app features an inbuilt multimeter that you can use to probe around the circuit you make for voltage/current. You can add values to the inbuilt oscilloscope to see how a value changes over time. The said can simultaneously track many signals over time and features a touch interface to control the total time displayed and stacked and unstacked modes to easily compare signals.

On the downside, the user interface of iCircuit app for Android can be a bit of annoying at times; you can only work in full screen mode. So, if an important email or text comes while working, you can’t read/see it straightaway. Also, you can’t reset time on the circuits. For normal circuits, it won’t create any issue. But for more complicated ones, it sometimes does. Also, there are no instructions as to how to use the app. Those who are familiar with CAD might not have trouble in getting started with iCircuit. For others, it might take some time to get a hang of it.

iCircuit application is compatible with Android OS versions 2.1 and up. Also it depends much on your phone specs.

Conclusion

iCircuit app for Android is a wonderful application to design complicated electronic circuits, fully tested and verified. In terms of features, there is yet to be an application that comes anywhere close to what iCircuit offers to the user. Of course, there are few drawbacks. But iCircuit’s positives outclass its apparent shortcomings. Verdict: If you’re shopping for a powerful CAD program for Android, don’t look beyond iCircuit.
